Having downloaded and used Efficient Software's Efficient Notes for the past few weeks, here we review the Pro edition. There is also a free version that will provide very useful functions for many users.
It should be an essential part of every computer user's loaded software.
Efficient Notes (EN) is an application that stores all your short or long notes into a single convenient file. All those .rtf and .txt files can now be imported into EN. I searched for text files on my hard drive and found hundreds. Open a single .enf (EN) file to see all your files in a convenient format.
See a list of your notes sorted by creation date, modification date or alphabetic. The interface makes viewing your files easy. Just click on the note title and the contents of your note is displayed in a panel. If you use Outlook mail program, the look of EN will be familiar to you. Note titling is particularly useful because file names are often limited to short descriptions. Now your titles can really let you know what detail you've collected.
The text is fully searchable and fast too!
With either the Pro or free edition, you can group your files. For example, if you track your software registration, gather your details into a registration group. Or if you have a collection of music lyrics, create a lyrics group, and so on.
As you move files to groups, your existing files will default to a folder called Other Notes. If you have multiple files in a group, create sub-groups (Pro only) for even better file organization. Never lose another piece of important information!
Create new notes with a single button on the toolbar. Insert tables, picture files or hyperlinks; link from within one note to another. Even add attachments or sticky notes to your files. EN will store your contact cards as well. Click on a note title, then the Edit toolbar button to change the contents of your note.
If you like to customize the layout of your titles and panels, EN allows changes to the look and feel. Set your color scheme to any of Windows standard themes, to match your own Windows settings.
Once you've used this application, you'll wonder how you did without it for so long. Like many useful tools, you'll find uses for it that you haven't yet thought of.
Highly recommended.
